It is
the Home's philosophy that each resident's independence be maximized.
The nursing staff identify individual strengths and work with the
resident to enhance or maintain these strengths. Comfort and
safety are a major concern, and the nursing staff wishes to create an
environment that ensures privacy and dignity and maintains personal
lifestyle as much as possible.
The Home
has registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs) and
health care aides/personal support workers (HCAs/PSWs) twenty four hours
a day. These staff work with the resident and family, and other
members of the interdisciplinary team to assess, plan and deliver care
which is designed to meet each resident's specific needs.
Registered staff are responsible for the daily functioning of each
unit, as well as for distributing medications and administering
treatments. The HCA/PSW provides direct care, such as bathing,
grooming, toileting, mobility assistance, if needed, and assistance with
meals and other activities.
St.
Patrick's Home is committed to hiring qualified personnel and adheres to
fair employment practices in all departments and in compliance with the
Human Rights Code. Assignments are determined based on skills and
abilities to perform the job. Residents will be cared for and
services will be delivered by qualified care providers of both genders
and from many ethnic backgrounds. |
