Message from the Chair

The Foundation’s Board of Directors have continued their tradition of exceptional support and promotion of St. Patrick’s Home this year.  Members have worked tirelessly to secure funds, and friends, for St. Pat’s.  Their commitment of time, talent and treasure is an invaluable resource. 

2006 was another year of unprecedented growth and development for the St. Patrick’s Home Foundation.   With the leadership of the Board of Directors, a core team of project-based volunteers, and hardworking staff, we once again had the privilege of supporting the mission and core values of the Home through funding Special Projects.

With the passionate leadership of Chair Brent Conley and Honourary Chair Michael O’Byrne and an enthusiastic contingent of key volunteers, our Lottery sold out well ahead of schedule for the third time in its sixteen-year history.  Despite the competitive market, all 2000 tickets were sold once again, and over $140,000.00 was directly disbursed from this project alone. 

The Foundation also continued to enjoy the friendship of key community partners in 2006.  Our golf tournament, sponsored by our good friends at Tierney Stauffer LLP was another resounding success raising almost $50,000.00 net profit for the Home.  Our tournament continues to be one of the most successful in the City and a key component of our “friendraising” efforts. The annual Irish Society’s Erin Luncheon, held at the Home again last year, was also a successful friendraiser.  This celebration continues to be one of our signature events.

Steady progress is being made by Foundation staff. We are seeing evidence that our fundraising programs are gaining momentum and building. Suitably, within the context of a large capital redevelopment plan, the team are poised to raise unprecedented support for our Home.

We continue to be blessed with the support of our Board, the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception and the Home’s staff, volunteers, Sisters, residents and their families.  With the partnership of these individuals, and the local community, we will continue to be able to respond to the Home’s needs in 2007, and build toward an exciting future.
