Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Standards

St. Patrick's Home, along with all Long Term Care homes, is overseen by many regulating bodies, the primary of which is the Long-Term Care Branch of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

We are inspected annually according to the Long Term Care Standards, by the compliance advisor assigned to us. The advisor prepares a "Report of Unmet Standards" that is available to the public, if there are any unmet standards.  If any Standards are deemed to be "unmet", the advisor sets "due dates" and returns for a follow-up visit to determine the progress the Home has made in coming into compliance.  The report  provides an "Observation/Discussion Summary" where the advisor may comment positively on what is found, as well as make suggestions for ongoing improvement.

There can also be focused visits in particular areas, for example, Dietary or Environmental Services. As well, the compliance advisor assigned to the Home will visit for special situations.
